Zoom: Recording and Finding Recordings for Instructors
Important Note: All Zoom Cloud recordings get deleted after 30 days. If you record Zoom meetings to the Cloud, a copy will be retained in your Illinois Media Space account. We recommend recording to the Cloud, so you can access recordings after 30 days.
Recording in Zoom
It is recommended that you enable automatic recording for all online sessions. This can be done when scheduling a new meeting, under Advanced Options. Click "Automatically record meeting" and "In the cloud." This option enables the recording to start as soon as the meeting begins and saves the recording in the cloud.
Alternatively, recording can be done manually in the Zoom meeting by clicking the More button in the Zoom meeting toolbar, and then clicking Record from the drop down menu that appears. The disadvantage to this method is the need to remember to do it at the start of every session.
Finding Recordings in Zoom
To access class recordings from your Canvas course space, click Zoom Meeting and navigate to the Cloud Recordings tab.
Click the desired recording to access it. Recordings can be viewed online or downloaded to your computer.
You can also view your meeting recordings by logging in to illinois.zoom.us and select the Recordings tab to view available recordings.
Note: By default, recordings will be deleted automatically after they have been stored for 30 days.
If your recording is locked behind a password, locate the recording in illinois.zoom.us, and select Share > Share Settings and leave the Passcode option unchecked. Further information on managing cloud recordings can be found here.
