ClassTech, Connecting to Kramer Via Wireless Presentation

Kramer Via wireless presentation devices are available on campus to connect external devices to audiovisual systems where HDMI or USB-C isn't an option.

Connecting

The steps to connect your device to the Kramer Via wireless presentation device will vary depending on the type of device you're using.

To get started, make sure the Wireless option is selected on the control panel in your classroom so the pairing code will be visible.

Your device must be connected to the IllinoisNet Wi-Fi to use Kramer Via Wireless Presentation devices. IllinoisNet_Guest or Eduroam will not work.

Windows, Kramer VIA App

Note: Windows does not come with a built-in wireless connection option like macOS' AirPlay. You must use the Kramer VIA desktop app to connect.

Installing the Kramer VIA App

  1. Find the IP address of the Kramer Via wireless presentation device in your classroom. The IP address for the wireless presentation device in your classroom will appear on the screen when the 'Wireless' option is selected from the control panel.

  2. Enter the IP address into the URL bar of your web browser and hit Enter.

  3. Your web browser will warn you that your connection is not secure - this is normal. The layout will change depending on the web browser you're using, but there should always be an option to show additional details and proceed to the website anyways.

  4. Click Install VIA. This will download the VIASetup.exe installer. Run the installer by clicking on it, then follow the steps given to you by the installation wizard.

Connecting with the Kramer VIA App

  1. Run the VIA application. VIA should start finding nearby rooms automatically. Click on the name of the classroom you're in to connect.

    If the classroom you're in does not appear, enter the IP address as it appears on the projector/screen into the Search by room name or IP field.

  2. A pairing code should appear on the screen within the classroom. Enter the pairing code into the Enter Room Code prompt.

Android, Kramer VIA App

Using the Kramer VIA app is the only option to connect Android devices to the Kramer Via wireless presentation devices.

  1. Download the Kramer VIA app from the Google Play store: Kramer VIA. Launch the app once it finishes downloading.
  2. VIA should start finding nearby rooms automatically. Click on the name of the classroom you're in to connect.

    If the classroom you're in does not appear, enter the IP address as it appears on the projector/screen into the Search by room name or IP field.

  3. A pairing code should appear on the screen within the classroom. Enter the pairing code into the Enter Room Code prompt.

iOS, AirPlay

Using AirPlay to connect to Kramer Via wireless presentation devices is the recommended option for iOS.

  1. Swipe down from the upper-right corner to open the settings widget, then tap the Screen Mirroring icon.

  2. Tap on the name of the Kramer Via device you want to present to. It should be named after the building and room number that you're located in.

  3. A pairing code should appear on the screen within the classroom. Enter the pairing code into the AirPlay prompt.

macOS, Kramer VIA App

Note: Using AirPlay to connect to Kramer Via wireless presentation devices is the recommended option for macOS. The VIA App should only be used as a backup option if AirPlay isn't available or doesn't work.

Installing the Kramer VIA App

  1. Find the IP address of the Kramer Via wireless presentation device in your classroom. The IP address for the wireless presentation device in your classroom will appear on the screen when the 'Wireless' option is selected from the control panel.

  4. Click Install VIA. This will download the VIASetup.dmg installer. Run the installer by clicking on it, then dragging VIA to the applications folder.

Connecting with the Kramer VIA App

  1. Run the VIA application from the macOS Apps Launcher.

  2. VIA should start finding nearby rooms automatically. Click on the name of the classroom you're in to connect.

    If the classroom you're in does not appear, enter the IP address as it appears on the projector/screen into the Search by room name or IP field.

Connecting for the First Time

The first time that you connect using the Kramer VIA app, macOS should ask you if VIA has permission to record your computer's screen and audio. Click Open System Settings to open the macOS Screen Recording settings. Then, toggle the switch next to VIA to On.

Using AirPlay to connect to Kramer Via wireless presentation devices is the recommended option for macOS.

  1. Click the Settings widget next to the clock in the upper-right corner.

Web Browser Conneciton
