How to access and download your W-2 Tax Forms
Note: Please try another browser before continuing with the following steps. This document targets Chrome users who have had problems downloading their W-2 forms. This document can also help Firefox users. Please try either browser if one does not work before proceeding.
Please visit the HR website and click the W-2 Tax Forms link in the Top Links navigation window. Then click the "Take Actions" button to continue to your Tax Forms. You will be required to log in using your NETID and password, along with 2FA authorization.
You do not need to provide consent if this is not your first time accessing W-2 Forms with the university. The date will be displayed when you first performed this action.
To Proceed, click the "[tax year] W-2 form" link and the below window will load.
Click the "Continue to View/Print" button and the following page will load.
1) Right-click the "[tax year] W-2 Form" link
2) Click the "Save link as" option on the context menu.
A "Save as" dialog box will open as seen in the below image:
1) Select the Documents folder for your save location on the left side navigation.
2) Click the "Save" Button. The file will download in Chrome/Firefox. (For Chrome it will appear at the bottom of your browser in the status bar). As seen below:
1) Click the arrow to view more options.
2) Click "Open" and it will open in Adobe Acrobat.
IMPORTANT: You can only do this once per session otherwise the file will be corrupt and you will get an Adobe message stating the file is corrupt. Please go back to the main page for HR W-2 Tax forms - https://www.hr.uillinois.edu/pay/w2
You will need to go through the process again. Each session allows for 1 download. If you continue to have issues, you can try a different browser. For further assistance, contact HR directly.
