Illinois ChatGPT EDU Setup - Migration from ChatGPT Free

The steps below outline the process for setting up your Illinois ChatGPT EDU (Illinois Campus) account, including migrating from a ChatGPT Free workspace. (Note that some of the screenshots in this document are based on the visually-friendly, dark mode version.)

Instructions

Receive an email invitation to ChatGPT Edu. Select Join workspace.
Select the Log in button.
Enter your email address in the Email address field and select the Continue button.
Select the University of Illinois button.
Select your university email address.
Enter your password and select the Sign in button.
Select the Continue button to verify your identity in Duo.
After completing your verification with Duo, you’ll be directed to a screen with the notification that You’ve been added to a ChatGPT EDU workspace. You will be given a choice of transferring your existing chat history and GPTs to the new workspace or exporting and deleting them. Make your selection and select the Continue button. (Note: You'll see a checkmark as a visual indicator of your selection.)
Select the Confirm transfer button to proceed or the Back button to return to the previous screen.
After confirming your transfer, you’ll be given the option of connecting apps. If you would like to explore these options during your setup, select the Confirm apps button. If you aren’t interested or would rather wait for this option, select the Not now button.
You should now see and have access to your ChatGPT EDU workspace. You can begin using it by adding a prompt to the What can I help with? field. Enjoy! (Note: Selecting the icon at the top left will open a sidebar; if you’ve transferred your chat history, you will be able to access it here.)
