Web Browsers - Restoring Your Browser to Its Default State
This document describes how to reset your web browser to its default state. This will clear your personal settings and website data, and disable your add-ons.
Firefox (Mac and Windows)
- Mac: Click the Help drop-down menu.
Windows: Click the menu button (three stacked horizontal lines), then click the Help menu (question mark icon) at the bottom of the menu. - Click More Troubleshooting Information.
- Click Reset Firefox...
- To remove any remaining browser data, clear your cache and cookies.

Chrome (Mac and Windows)
- Click the Customize and Control Google Chrome (Three stacked horizontal lines) button.
- Click Settings.
- Click Reset Settings.
- Select Restore settings to their original defaults, then click Reset Settings.
- To remove any remaining browser data, clear your cache and cookies.
Internet Explorer 9+ (Windows)
- Click the Tools menu. (gear icon)
- Click Internet Options.
- Under the Advanced tab, click Reset.
- Check the box next to Delete personal settings, then click Reset. You will need to restart Internet Explorer for changes to take affect.
Safari (Mac)
Note: Unlike other web browsers, Safari does not have a full browser reset option. The closest equivalent is to follow these steps.
- Clear your cache and cookies in Safari on Mac.
- Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac.
- Uninstall extensions.
- Use any antivirus software you have to scan for and remove malware or suspicious files.
