VPN, CISCO Secure Client, Installation Instructions for Android Devices
Follow the instructions below to install and setup the Cisco Secure Client on your Android device. The same instructions should work for Google Chromebooks.
Quick Start
- Download the Cisco Secure Client from the Google Play Store.
- Open the AnyConnect app.
- Add a new connection to the "Server Address" go.vpn.illinois.edu.
- Set the AnyConnect VPN toggle button to the "on" (rightward) position.
- If prompted, "OK" the request to allow Cisco Secure Client to monitor network traffic.
- Sign In with your full email address (NetID@illinois.edu) and password.
Downloading and Configuring the VPN
- On your Android device, go the Google Play Store and download the "Cisco Secure Client". The app should be free to download.

- Once the app has been downloaded, it will show up on your device under the name "AnyConnect". Open the app to configure the VPN for university use.

- When you open the app for the first time, you will be prompted to accept the Cisco End User License Agreement. Click "OK".

- Click on the panel labeled "Connections" to add a connection to the campus VPN.

- Click on the "+" icon in the bottom right corner to add a VPN conncection.

- In the "Server Address" text box, type go.vpn.illinois.edu and click "Done".

- Click on the "back" arrow in the upper left corner.

Connecting to the VPN
- To connect to the VPN, set the AnyConnect VPN toggle button to the "on" (rightward) position.

- If prompted, "OK" the request to allow Cisco Secure Client to monitor network traffic.

- A web browser window should pop up to guide you through the login process. Make sure you Sign In with your full email address (NetID@illinois.edu).

- At this point, you should be connected to the campus VPN!

Disconnecting from the VPN
To disconnect from the VPN, set the AnyConnect VPN toggle button to the "off" (leftward) position.
