JDX Staff Vacancy negotiated classification salary min and max range rates

This document provides detailed instructions for determining the minimum and maximum offer salary range rates for negotiated classifications within a Staff Vacancy workflow in the JDXpert system.

In this article, we will take a closer look at the following steps outlined in the JDX Staff Vacancy Job Aid:

Check the Rate Type in the Salary Plan to identify whether a classification is negotiated.

Because negotiated classifications have agreed upon rates established by the bargaining unit and the University, Compensation reviews rates differently to ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreements.

For negotiated positions, the default is to post the position at the base rate established for the classification. If a unit wants to post a range within the overall pay range for the classification there is an option in the Salary Statements in Job Posting ( https://answers.uillinois.edu/ihr/internal/157656 ), “The collective bargaining agreement sets a range of $XX,XXX–$XX,XXX for this classification. The budgeted salary range for the position is $XX,XXX–$XX,XXX.”. This statement will be included in the JDX approval email as a comment. The offer min and max fields in JDX will only include the classification minimum.

Once a candidate has been identified and the unit has determined a higher rate is necessary, the unit can submit an email for review to IHR Compensation (IHR-Compensation@illinois.edu). This approval must be obtained prior to extending the offer. See also Salary Approval Guidelines ( https://answers.uillinois.edu/ihr/158624 ).
