Instructor Checklist - Engineering IT

1. Designate Course Staff With Class Tools

• Course staff groups are used to grant administrative permissions to course resources, such as viewing and editing the rosters, editing web information, course file shares, etc.
• These groups are cleared near the beginning of each semester and repopulated with the course's primary instructor(s).
• Additional course staff must be designated at the beginning of each semester. 
• To designate additional course staff, primary instructors should go to https://my.engr.illinois.edu/classtools/ and choose "Edit Staff."

2. Confirm EWS Lab Reservations

• If your course uses EWS labs for instruction, confirm the reservations are present on our calendars. Be sure to check for recurring or one-time events.
• View the calendar at: https://my.engr.illinois.edu/excal/
• To reserve an EWS labs, request a reservation at: https://go.illinois.edu/EWSreserve

3. Confirm Software or Virtual Machines For Your Course

• If you need software installed in EWS labs or remote access environments, please submit a software request at https://go.illinois.edu/EWSsoftware. View the standard list of software at https://go.illinois.edu/softwarelist.
  
  
  •  IMPORTANT 
    • Complications relating to licensing, purchasing, and installation may cause delays, so please submit requests as early as possible.
    • We ask for a minimum of 10 business days notice (or more for multiple software titles). 
    • We cannot guarantee the continued installation of software requested for previous semesters.
    • To guarantee you have the software you need, please submit a software request for the respective semester.
      
      
• If you need virtual machines for your course, please submit an instructional VM request at https://go.illinois.edu/engr-vm.

4. Confirm A/V In Your Classroom

• Visit your classroom prior to your first time teaching and familiarize yourself with the equipment.
  • Review Engineering IT supported AV rooms.
  • Review Technology Services General Assignment classrooms.
• Schedule training or contact our AV team at engrit-help-av@illinois.edu
• Schedule event support for special events or meetings.

5. Review Lecture Recording Options

• Classroom lecture and event recording:
  
  • Review lecture recording capable rooms.
  • Request a lecture capture recording in your classroom. 
• Reach out the eLearning team for further support at engrit-help-elearning@illinois.edu.

6.  Review Course Website Hosting Options

• We recommend that you register its URL to make the https://courses.grainger.illinois.edu/ site redirect.
