Matrix CMS - Adding Content Editors
Before provisioning Content Editor access to Matrix CMS, you must first confirm the user has completed the following required training: Matrix CMS for Content Editors. You must also know if you are provisioning access to an entire website, a subsite, or to individual webpages.
Adding a User in Squiz DXP
- Log into Squiz DXP.
- Navigate to Administration by selecting the tile at the bottom right of the screen.
- From the Administration module, select Users from the left navigation pane.
- Once in Users, select the blue Invite users button at the top right of the screen.
- Enter the user's email address in the Emails field, and then select Content editor from the Roles dropdown menu.
- Select the Send invite button to trigger the account activation email to the user.
The user must follow the link in the system generated email to log in and active their account before you can move on to the next set of steps.
Provisioning Website Access in Matrix CMS
- Log into Matrix.
- Expand Users Folder [4] in the Asset Tree.
- Expand IDP Users - First Login [401].
- Review the resulting list of users to locate the user for which you are provisioning access.
Note: if you do not see the user in the list, have them log in again and then review the users list again. - Take note of the asset ID of the user, as this is what you will use to provision access.
- Right click Sites [85] in the asset tree, hover over Settings in the resulting menu, and then select Permissions.
- From the Sites > Permissions screen, select the Edit button at the top right of your screen.
- Select the Add read permission button to add a blank row to the Read Permissions table.
- Important: before entering the asset ID of the user, you must first uncheck the Cascade checkbox.
- Enter the user's asset ID in the Enter an ID or select an asset box and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
- Select the downward-facing arrow next the Save button and then select Release locks now.
Now that the user has read permissions for Sites [85], repeat steps 12-17 for Websites [168].
If you are provisioning Write access to an entire website:
- Right click the folder asset for the site (example: PROD - audits.uillinois.edu [235]) and enter the Permissions screen.
- Select the Edit button at the top right of your screen.
- Select the Add write permission button to add a blank row to the Write Permissions table.
- Enter the user's asset ID in the Enter an ID or select an asset box and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Note: leave the Cascade checkbox checked, as you are provisioning access for the entire site. - Select the downward-facing arrow next the Save button and then select Release locks now.
If you are provisioning Write access to a subsite or specific webpage(s):
Repeat steps 12-17 for the the parent website (example: PROD - audits.uillinois.edu [235]). Note: leave the Cascade checkbox checked to provision Read access for the entire site.
Next, identify the page or pages to which you are provisioning access and repeat steps 18-22.
Confirming Access
- Expand Users Folder [4] in the Asset Tree.
- Expand IDP Users - First Login [401].
- Find the user for which you just provisioned access, right click their asset, and then select Sign in as.
- Review the asset tree to ensure the user has the proper access.
- Once confirmed, select the My Account button at the top right corner of the screen, and then select Sign out and resume as Name.
