Learn@Illinois Moodle - Using the Course Request Application

Follow the steps below to request Moodle content with the Moodle Course Request Application.

Please note: If you are using the Moodle LTI in Canvas, follow the instructions at https://go.illinois.edu/AddMoodleLTI and return to this page when instructed.

  1. Access the Course Request Application at https://courserequest.learn.illinois.edu. (If you are requesting LTI content, you should instead launch the Course Request Application from your Canvas course). 
  2. Click Request a Course Site.

  3. Click Continue.

  4. Choose whether to request the site for yourself or on the behalf of someone else. Click Continue.

  5. Choose the type of course site you are requesting. Click Continue.

  6. Choose the course you wish to create. Click Continue.

    Instructors will see a list of their courses for them to choose from, button that says continue.

  7. Choose the sections you are teaching. Click Continue.

  8. If you are teaching multiple sections, choose whether you want those sections to be combined into a course site, or each receive their own course site. Click Continue.

    Choose if you want your sections to be combined into a single course site or made into separate ones, button that says continue.

  9. Confirm which Moodle server you want your course to be hosted on. If you launch the Course Request Application from Canvas, lti.learn will be automatically selected for you. Please note that learn.illinois.edu is only available for non-registrar affiliated courses or courses that you have received approval from ATLAS TLT to offer there. Click Continue.

  10. This page gives you the option to either request a blank site or copy contents from a previous Moodle site. 

    Choose whether to import content from a previous course site, button that says continue.

    1. If you want a blank site, click Continue
    2. If you want to copy previous contents, click Select Course Contents
      1. In the pop-up, choose the course you would like to copy from. It will display the previous versions of the course you are requesting where you have a Teacher role. You can choose to display all courses you have access to, or to show courses from another instructor. You can also shift due dates in the course based on the new course start date. When you're ready, click Confirm.

        2. The page will display your selection. Click Continue.

  11. You will be automatically added to the course as a Teacher. You can choose to add other users as Teachers or Course Administrators. Please note: If you are using the Moodle LTI, you should add users in Canvas instead.

  12. This page will display a summary of what you have selected. Review it, and if everything is correct, scroll down to accept the Terms of Use and click Submit Request.

  13. Once you submit your request, you will see a confirmation page. Refreshing this page can keep you up to date on the status of your request. Once it is completed, the link to your new Moodle site will be displayed. You will also receive an email once it completes with the link to your site.
