Canvas@Illinois, Turnitin, Enhanced Similarity Report

With the upgrade to LTI 1.3, Turnitin instructors and students will access the enhanced similarity report. This article provides an overview of this report.

Overview of what is new in the enhanced report

The Turnitin Similarity Report is a tool that quantifies how similar a student’s work is to other pieces of writing by highlighting similarities to the world’s largest collection of internet, academic, and student paper content. Each Similarity Report generates a similarity score which is the percentage of matching or similar text that has been uncovered. The similarity score is not a determination of plagiarism. Consider a student’s use of quotations, citations, and bibliographic material when reviewing the score.
