Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), Duo Authentication "Page access not allowed" Error in Google Chrome

Resolve the "Page access not allowed" error in Google Chrome by allowing Chrome to communicate with Duo.

You may receive the following message when attempting to authenticate using Duo in Google Chrome:

Although the message indicates an access issue, the problem is caused by Chrome blocking communication with Duo.

Resolution

  • Open Google Chrome.
  • Click the three dots menu (top right) and select Settings.
  • Go to Privacy and security, then click Site settings.
  • Scroll down and click Additional permissions, then select Local network access.
  • Next to Allowed to connect to any device on your local network, click Add.
  • Type [*.]duosecurity.com and add it to the allowed list.
  • Save the changes and try authenticating again.

If the issue continues after updating the setting, troubleshoot using the following steps:

  • Verify you are using the latest version of Chrome
  • Try signing in using different browser to determine whether the issue is browser specific
  • Contact IT Service Desk if you continue to receive error
