Networking, Unable to access campus websites or network resources from home or when traveling?

Guidance on how to determine whether your IP address has been blocked from accessing campus websites or other network resources

The campus IT Security group sometimes has to block IP address from accessing campus resources.  If you are unable to access campus websites or network resources from home or when travelling, there is a possibility that your public IP address has been blocked.

To determine whether this is has happened to your address, see if you can access this website: https://netwiki.techservices.illinois.edu/public/home/is-my-ip-address-blocked/

If you are able to access that site, then your public IP address has not been blocked and something else is preventing you from accessing other campus resources.  Please contact the IT Service Desk if you would like help troubleshooting further.

If you are not able to access that website, there is a good chance that your IP address has been blocked. Please contact the IT Service Desk to find out why it was blocked and what can be done to unblock it.

In order to help you, the Service Desk will need to know what your public address is.  To determine that, go to the website https://ip.anysrc.net.  The website will report what your public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are.  Please be aware that you might only see one address type listed because not everyone will have both types of addresses.
