MECM Dell Pro Laptops BIOS Recovery Image Missing
Overview
A warning message displays "The BIOS recovery image is missing" after reinstalling the operating system via a method other than Dell's Support Assist OS Recovery (such as a Windows ISO or MECM Task Sequence)

General Information
Imaging a device via task sequence or reinstalling the Operating System manually may result in a warning message shown below.
- The BIOS recovery file is required to reside in the Dell recovery path on the solid state storage device.
- The BIOS recovery file may be lost when: reiinStalling the Operating System, formatting the solid state drive (SSD), or replacing the (SSD).
- As this warning screen appears after each restart, it will impede the task sequence process. Selecting ‘Continue’ or allowing the warning screen to timeout on its own should allow the imaging process to continue.

Resolution
Each time the Operating System reinstall process is completed, the BIOS must be updated to re-create the BIOS recovery file.
Note: Microsoft Windows Update and Dell Command Update will not update the BIOS if the latest BIOS version is the same as the current BIOS version. The BIOS file must be updated from the Dell Support Site to rebuild the BIOS recovery file.
