Office 365, Outlook, Clearing Cache

Strange or unusual behavior in Outlook can be hard to diagnose. Clearing the cache can be a great starting point for troubleshooting.

Windows, Outlook (Classic)

  1. Close Outlook, and make sure that it is not running in the background (you may need to restart your computer).
  2. Press the Windows Key + R at the same time to open the Run prompt.
  3. Run the command %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook, and hit Enter.
  4. Find the folder named RoamCache and delete it.

Windows, New Outlook

  1. Close Outlook, and make sure that it is not running in the background (you may need to restart your computer).
  2. Press the Windows Key + R at the same time to open the Run prompt.
  3. Run the command olk.exe --devtools.
    • This should open both New Outlook and a DevTools window. The following steps will take place in the DevTools window.
  4. Click the Network tab.
  5. Right-click anywhere within the network request table, and click Clear browser cache.
  6. Right-click anywhere within the network request table again, and click Clear browser cookies.
  7. Close New Outlook and re-open it before trying to use Outlook again.
