Digital Signage, Emergency Notification

This article describes how digital signage is integrated with Illini Alerts
The Digital Signage Service is integrated with Illini Alert, using Channels within Content Manager Desktop (CMD). These channels must be subscribed individually to each player by the service manager. If you are setting up a content player and wish for it to be subscribed to the emergency channel, please contact the service at digitalsignage@illinois.edu

Currently, there are two subscriptions available: horizontal 16:9 and vertical 16:9. Channels to subscribe to digital signs of other aspect ratios currently do not exist, however as we add new devices or displays we may be able to create additional aspect ratios as necessary.

Digital signage players that are managed by departments will need to be joined to the UOFI domain and utilize a domain service account to access the network location where the emergency channel is deployed.

Tests of the Illini Alert system are conducted the first Tuesday of every month at approximately 10:05 am. Those who manage digital signs that are subscribed to emergency channels should verify that their signs properly trigger during these monthly tests and report any inconsistencies to digitalsignage@illinois.edu .
