NetID, Annual NetID Password Expiration

For security reasons, users are required to change their University account's password at least once each year. If you do not, your password will expire, and you will not be able to sign in to University services until a new password is set.

You will be notified by an automated email 21, 14, 7, 3, 2, and 1 day(s) before your password expires.

To change your password before expiration, navigate to identity.uillinois.edu, log in, and click the "Change password" button.

Changing an expired NetID password

If you have allowed your NetID password to expire, you will need to set a new one:

  • Online: Navigate to identity.uillinois.edu and click the "Forgotten or expired password?" link below the "Log in" button.
  • In person: Bring a photo ID to the Technology Services Help Desk in room 1211 of the Digital Computer Laboratory on campus.
  • Within your department: If your department or unit has a password registrar (that is, someone authorized to set or reset passwords), you may contact that person for assistance.

If you have any questions or problems, please contact the Technology Services Help Desk by phone at (217) 244-7000 or by email at consult@illinois.edu.
