Email, Undeliverable recipient when sending email error

When I try to send an e-mail, I get an "undeliverable recipient" error. Why is this and how do I fix it?
There are three possible causes of this problem:

1. You have mistyped the email address of the person you are sending your email to. Verify that the address is correct, and then send the email again.

2. The email address of the person you are sending your email to is no longer valid, or they have created an invalid .forward file on their account. For various reasons, sometimes people shut off their email accounts. Unfortunately, unless you have an alternate means of contacting the person to find out what the new email address is, there is very little that you can do.

3. You have created an invalid forward on your account and you are attempting to send a copy of an email to yourself. If you mistyped the new e-mail address, you will get an "undeliverable email" error when sending e-mail to yourself. You will need to either fix the information in the forward file or remove it.
