Help Desk, Making Delicious Popcorn

The Help Desk has a tried and true method for making delicious popcorn for all of our staff and walk-in clients. The popcorn machine is located on the east wall of the Help Desk, and any staff member is welcome to make popcorn for everyone to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of popcorn kernels
  • 1/3 cup of oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

Instructions

  1. Turn on the popcorn light by pressing the first button on the left.
  2. Lift the left side of the popper lid and pour in the popcorn.
  3. Press the middle button to allow the stirring rod to mix the popcorn for 10 seconds, then add oil and salt.
  4. Close the lid.
  5. Press the third button from the left to start the heating process. The popcorn will begin to pop.
  6. Once you hear the popcorn stop popping, turn off the heat but keep the stirring rod running briefly to make sure all kernels pop, then turn off the stirring rod.
  7. Dump any remaining popcorn into the machine.
  8. Use the large scoop to move popcorn from side to side, allowing unpopped kernels to fall through the holes to the bottom of the tray.
  9. Finally, enjoy your freshly popped popcorn.

At the end of the day, turn off the popcorn light. Any leftover popcorn should either be thrown away or taken home. Any kernels in the bottom tray should also be thrown away. 

Clean the inside of the popcorn machine by wiping down all sides and the bottom with napkins found in the side room next to the microwave. Clean both the small and large popcorn scoopers by wiping them down with a napkin. After you've finished cleaning the popcorn machine and the scoopers, throw away the napkins.
