U of I Box, Protecting PHI with Box Health Data Folders Policies and Guidelines

A Box Health Data Folder (BHDF) is a specially configured folder within U of I Box that securely stores private health information (PHI).

The HIPAA Privacy Office is responsible for approving requests for BHDFs. Before you submit a request, read and understand their policies and guidelines on the HIPAA website here: https://www.uillinois.edu/hipaa/box/

For any questions about these policies, or for assistance with sharing permissions and other BHDF settings, contact the HIPAA Privacy Official by email at hipaa@uillinois.edu

Apply for a BHDF using the Box Health Data Folder Request Form: http://go.uillinois.edu/RequestBoxHealthFolder

Once approved, our Security team will create the BHDF and assign your account as its owner. If the folder doesn't seem to be configured correctly or you're having trouble finding it, you can contact them by email at SecuritySupport@illinois.edu
