My-UI-Financials Access Manager – Using a Wildcard (%) and Blank Fields while Searching

Using a Wildcard % while Searching

Access Manager allows users to insert the percent sign (%) as a wildcard character to search for unspecified characters (letters or numbers). Using the wildcard can help you find a specific role, fund, or name when you only have partial information about an item.

In any search field, you can substitute the wildcard for the portion of unknown characters to refine your search or filter. The position of the wildcard can be at the beginning or the end of the character string, depending on what you wish to search for. For example, if you want to find items that end with a specific set of letters or numbers, you would place the % at the beginning of the string of characters. If you want to find items that start with a specific set of letters or numbers, you would place the % at the end of the string of characters. Examples are below.

Using Wildcard % on the Funds Tab

Scenario: You want to search for all of your unit’s Fund numbers that end with 9.

  1. Sign in to My-UI-Financials Access Manager.
  2. Click the Funds tab.
  3. Under Filter By, type %9 in the Funds field.
  4. Click the Filter button.
  5. Scroll down to see the filter results. The search results will list all C-FOPs accessible by you that have 9 as their last number.
  6. Click the result you want to view.

NOTE: The search results will only find fund numbers to which you have authorized access.

Using Wildcard % on the Search Tab

Scenario: You know that a user’s last name is either Andersen or Anderson.

  1. Sign in to My-UI-Financials Access Manager.
  2. Click the Search tab.
  3. Under the Search for user by NetID, Name, or UIN section, click the Name option.
  4. Type Ander% in the Last Name field.
  5. Click the Search button.
  6. Scroll down to see the filter results. The search results will list all users whose last names begin with the letters Ander.

Using Blank Fields while Searching

When performing a search, you can also leave the search criteria fields blank. This will produce a larger pool of results from your search.

For example, when searching for a C-FOP, the only required fields for this search are Chart and either a Fund or Org code. You are able to leave the other criteria fields blank, which provides a larger pool of results from combinations of the blank criteria fields.

Searching with Blank Fields

Scenario: You want to view all the C-FOPs for Chart 1 and your unit’s Org number.

  1. Sign in to My-UI-Financials Access Manager.
  2. Click the Search tab.
  3. Navigate to the Search for a specific C-FOP, grant, fund or org section
  4. Enter 1 in the Chart field
  5. Enter your unit's Org number in the Org field.
  6. Leave the other fields blank.
  7. Click the Search button.
  8. Scroll down to see the filter results. The search results will list all C-FOPs accessible by you that have the combination of the criteria provided.

NOTE: When searching using the C-FOP field, you cannot use the both a wildcard % and blank fields in the same search request. Once the search is completed, you will be able to navigate through the C-FOPs for access maintenance by utilizing the application's Back button. Again, the search results will only find fund numbers to which you have access. These search query times may be longer due to the amount of data analyzed when using wildcards or blank fields.
