Canvas@Illinois, View my grades in Canvas
Students can check their grades, course progress, and any feedback in Canvas.
If your instructor is using Canvas to share course content and grade assignments, you can access your grades and view feedback within the learning management system during the semester following these steps:
- From your dashboard, select the course OR select Courses in the global navigation menu and then select the course title.
- In the course navigation menu, select Grades.
- You should now be able to view your grades on the "Grades for (Your Name)" page.
Your grades page will contain a lot of information, some of which can be customized. Below is a screenshot of an example grades page:
- Course drop-down menu: Use this drop down to toggle between different courses; if you select a different course and then select the Apply button, you'll be forwarded to the Grades page of the selected course.
- Arrange By drop-down menu: Use this drop down menu to change the way assignments are listed on your grades page; options include by Assignment Group, Due Date, Module, and Name.
- Apply button: Applies changes based on the Course and Arrange By drop down menu selections.
- Name column: This column includes the name of the assignment (as a hyperlink to view the assignment instructions) as well as the assignment group name below it (you can think of this like a category of assignments).
- Due date column: This column include the due date and time for assignments.
- Submitted column: This column includes the date and time that your assignment was submitted.
- Status column: This column may be blank, but if you submit an assignment late (or didn't submit at all), you may see a label such as "missing" or "late.
- Score column: This column will display the points possible for an assignment
- Show All Details button: Selecting this button expands all sections on the page so you can view all feedback, rubrics, etc.
- "Calculate based only on graded assignments" checkbox: By default, this option is checked, and you'll see a running total of your score (based only on already graded assignments); to see something closer to your final score at the end of the semester, you'll need to uncheck that checkbox.
