Canvas@Illinois, Recover Deleted Content

This article will cover how to recover content (like assignments, discussions, pages, etc.) that was accidentally deleted within a Canvas site.

Instructors can recover some content that was accidentally deleted within Canvas. This applies to most content, including pages, assignments, discussion boards, quizzes, and announcements, that were deleted from the course site.

Follow these steps to access your deleted content:

  1. Open your Canvas course site.
  2. Select Home in your course navigation menu.
  3. At the end of the URL, type "/undelete" as seen in the image below:

  4. You will then see a Restore Deleted Items page where you can select a restore button to recover the content.

Please note: The undelete function/Restore Deleted Items page is not accessible to students. If you restore an assignment that previously had student submissions, restoring the assignment will recover the submissions, grades, and any feedback that was previously saved.
